During the move from Victoria to Portland my reusable to-go container broke.
As a result I haven't been regularly taking half away over the last week.
This afternoon, however, I intentionally, immediately set aside half of my lunch.
It felt good. I really enjoyed the portion I ate.
After work I ate the other half. It was excellent.
I think taking half away is going to stick with me.
I already had a compulsive/impulsive photograph my food habit. This experiment strengthened that. I think I might like to stop that habit.
My eatings habits are different now. I don't find myself overeating even when I don't set half aside right away.
I am more in-tune with feeling satisfied from a meal, and the desire to continue to taste delicious things doesn't compel me to keep eating the way it used to.
I have learned that I definitely eat more after I've been drinking.
Carrying the reusable to-go container around with me isn't as onerous as I thought it might be.
Taking half away and eating less, more often, is more satisfying that eating a lot in one sitting. It feels like an accomplishment.
]]>Tacones again. One for dinner.
The other I have as a late night snack, after beer is consumed.
I eat a whole sandwich in two sittings.
I eat the other tacone from yesterday's lunch.
I took half away for 30 days.
This officially ends the experiment.
Conclusions and closing thoughts to follow.
]]>At another brewpub. I order lamb and a flight of beer.
I drink it all, and I eat it all. Took nothing away.
Two fish tacos ("tacones") for lunch.
Super easy to take half away.
Last night, after the brewpub, I had some of the take away shrimp as a snack.
So today there's a bit less than half of last night's dinner.
Nevertheless, I eat it for breakfast.
]]>I order two dishes and a flight at a local brewpub.
Immediately half of each dish is set aside.
I eat the remaining half of each dish, and drink all the beer.
Ate the other half.
A 1/2 sandwich, 1/2 cookie, and root beer for lunch.
Other half of the burger and salad from last night.
]]>Ordered a veggie burger and salad, and a beer.
Immediately set aside half, ate the other half.
Here's the half I did not eat:
Epic fish and chips.
I eat more than I need, but don't feel too full or ready to food coma.
I just know I didn't need to eat all that I ate.
About 1/4 gets taken away, eaten as a pre-dinner around 5:30.
Drunken Frosted Flakes all over the bed.
Potluck with friends. Do not portion control, but also don't overeat. Woot.
]]>Chicken pot pie and salad.
I eat roughly half of it, then take the other half away.
Which I eat about 1.5 hours later.
Four tacos like this:
The remainder of yesterday's Mexican lunch and today's pork fried rice.
Half of a pork fried rice dish.
Went to a party that had food, ate there.
Ate off a small party plate and filled it up twice, I think.
No breakfast, just coffee.
At lunch I order Mexican food and immediately set half aside.
The other half of today's breakfast.
]]>For lunch I eat half of a curry tofu fried rice dish.
I take away half (plus a little extra) of my breakfast at the diner.
At home I dig into the sandwich again.
I also eat some cheese, Marcona almonds, and the other cookie.
Must have snacked earlier today? Can't remember. Probably ate leftover pork and rice from yesterday.
For dinner I have a cookie and almost half of a sandwich.
Almost half a pint of ice cream and half a slice of ginger chocolate cake!
Ordered BBQ pork and kimchi rice takeaway.
Immediately set half aside, at nearly the other half.
