Still Taking Half Away

During the move from Victoria to Portland my reusable to-go container broke.

As a result I haven't been regularly taking half away over the last week.

This afternoon, however, I intentionally, immediately set aside half of my lunch.

It felt good. I really enjoyed the portion I ate.

After work I ate the other half. It was excellent.

Conclusions

I think taking half away is going to stick with me.

I already had a compulsive/impulsive photograph my food habit. This experiment strengthened that. I think I might like to stop that habit.

My eatings habits are different now. I don't find myself overeating even when I don't set half aside right away.

I am more in-tune with feeling satisfied from a meal, and the desire to continue to taste delicious things doesn't compel me to keep eating the way it used to.

I have learned that I definitely eat more after I've been drinking.

Carrying the reusable to-go container around with me isn't as onerous as I thought it might be.

Taking half away and eating less, more often, is more satisfying that eating a lot in one sitting. It feels like an accomplishment.

Day 30: Breakfast

Last night, after the brewpub, I had some of the take away shrimp as a snack.

So today there's a bit less than half of last night's dinner.

Nevertheless, I eat it for breakfast.

Day 29: Dinner

I order two dishes and a flight at a local brewpub.

Immediately half of each dish is set aside.

I eat the remaining half of each dish, and drink all the beer.
